Fraser Valley Gleaners

News Release - May 15,  2012

 * We will be closed for the Victoria Day holiday.

* Soup mixing is completed for the season!  Praise the Lord!  11.5 million soup servings were made!

* Fraser Valley Gleaners is pleased to announce that the AGM of members has approved the purchase of the Twin Firs property in Abbotsford from MCC. This scenic 9+ acre property was rented from MCC for the past 11 years to carry  on the mandate of producing dried soup mix for relieving world hunger.  The purchase of this property permits FVG to continue its operations on its own property and allows for the expansion of their production facilities in the future.  Closing date for the purchase is June 21, 2012.    The purchase price agreed to by both parties is $1.3 million.  Interim financing is in place and FVG will need to raise at least $900,000. in donations to minimize the financing of the project.  The Gleaners have been blessed with hundreds of volunteers to carry on its day to day operations.  FVG would encourage all of  its members to invite interested parties to come and visit our beautiful grounds and facilities and consider investing in the work of reclaiming food products and transforming them into nutritious meals for hungry people all over the world.   Donations for this land purchase can be sent directly to our office and should be noted for that purpose.  If you have any questions about your support for this project please contact any one of the board members or the Fund Raising Committee c/o Ray Lepp, rmlepp@gmail.com.

*  Our plant is currently open Monday to Saturday  8:30 am - noon.   Phone the plant 604-870-9272 if you would like to come and join us on a Saturday.  All evenings bookings are full for this year.  New bookings for 2013 will be taken in September.
