Annual General Meeting Highlights
Our Annual General Meeting was held Saturday April 21, 2018. It was a time of coming together to hear what God is doing at Gleaners in Abbotsford. Each committee gave an oversight of their activities. We thank God for all the generous hearts that donate their time and resources towards the ministry of gleaning. Elections for board members were held and appreciation was expressed to those members giving leadership on the board. Our building project continues to wait for Abbotsford City and ALR to issue a permit for the renovation. We were blessed by having four women from Patricia House share their previous “realities” in life and share how today they “walk in the truth.” Thank you, ladies. A highlight for the morning was hearing Barb Giraud report on Gleaners soup mix going to Uganda. A video of a container arriving at Jaaja Barb’s Home of Angels orphanage showed many excited people watching the event of the day. This AGM was a time to encourage and be encouraged by all the great things God is doing at the Gleaners. After the meeting we were blessed with a BBQ lunch. Submitted by Marilyn Vriend |

In Memory
We miss our good friend and co-worker, Jake. He was one of our managers here at Fraser Valley Gleaners for the last 17 years. His funeral was held on February 26th in Abbotsford. Jake was not only a mentor to us, but an amazing example of a servant of God with the gift of encouragement, laughter and praying for those who are hurting. He was a friend who cared about the people he met. We extend our heart-felt condolences and prayers to Mary and the Martens family. Jake is truly missed by the staff and all who worked with him. |
Mission Without Borders
This Ministry based in Abbotsford supports soup kitchens throughout the countries of Romania, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Moldova in cooperation with evangelical churches. The soup kitchen is more than a place to get warm food - it offers fellowship, fosters friendships, and meets various needs - the more important of which is the spiritual need of knowing God. One million soup servings left our plant in April to these areas. www.mwbca.org |
