Soup for Burundi, Africa

Soup for Burundi, Africa

In 2022 we were able to send 2.4 million soup servings to Burundi through our partner Food for the Hungry Canada.  The soup was distributed to families struggling between crop harvests.  The big problem in Burundi is not enough land for the growing population.  The families most in need are identified by community leaders, FH staff and churches.  The soup mix is helping street children, widows, displaced people, elderly, HIV positive patients, prisoners and many who are sick or disabled. With the soup they also hear the message of the gospel, meeting both physical and spiritual needs.

Thank you for partnering with us to bring food & hope to those in need!

Christmas Social

Christmas Social

Over 175 people came for our Christmas Social.  We had a great time together!  We enjoyed carol singing, a “Veggie to Soup” slide presentation, lots of food and a wonderful time of visiting.  Thank you to all who helped set up, decorate, organize the food, direct parking, and clean up!  Special kudos to the music team, Wally Unger leading the presentation, and Ann VanderMeulen and team in the kitchen!  We love these events where we can gather together and we are thankful when we can!

Together we make a difference

Together we make a difference

The need is great

Covid has exasperated poverty around the world

Presently we have more requests for soup than we can fill.  In light of this, the FV Gleaners Board of Directors has made the decision to make a significant purchase of vegetable input (in the form of dried and frozen product) so we can add to the number of soup servings we will be able to send in 2023.  We are grateful for all our donors who make this possible!
