This week as we celebrated Canada Day, we read Psalm 72:8 in the plant. At the time of Confederation, when deciding on a name for our new nation, Sir Leonard Tilley, Premier of New Brunswick, read a chapter of the Bible, reading "He shall have dominion from sea to sea". He then presented the name "Dominion of Canada" to the assembly. The Latin phrase, A Mari Usque Ad Mare later became the motto on Canada's Coat of Arms, meaning "from sea to sea," referencing Psalm 72:8.
