Annual General MeetingSaturday, April 27, 2019 On April 27, 2019, Fraser Valley Gleaners had their Annual General Meeting. We are grateful for all the members/volunteers who showed up and we had a great time of fellowship. The meeting was opened with Trevor Fowler leading us in a devotion and prayer. Here at Gleaners God continues to bless us with product and we continue to show up and do what He asks us to do and that is to feed the poor. We continue to see His hand in all that we do. The rest of the meeting consisted of the President’s report and also the reports from all the committees. Listening to all those reports reminds us of how grateful we are for all our volunteers and staff who work diligently to feed the poor each year again. The ladies from Patricia House gave their “before realities” and also shared their realities today. We also had elections for board directors. We re-elected Mark Hardy, Ed Klassen, Wade Trimble and Marilyn Vriend. Case Van Muyen also was elected as a new director. It was also noted that Ben Doerksen and Dave Staley have completed 6 years each as directors. We thank them for their service during those years. We amended some by-laws and also looked at our Financials for the 2018 year and the new budget for 2019. We, at Gleaners, are incredibly blessed with wonderful donors who continue to give financially to this ministry. For the Distribution Presentation we had Norm Krannitz give us a presentation of his trips with the organization, “Love Guatemala” (Judy Bergen). Norm went to Guatemala because he wanted to see where our soup mix goes and therefore chose this service project. Carl ended the meeting with prayer and we enjoyed fellowship with one another over a BBQ lunch. Marilyn Vriend, Secretary |

Zimbabwe Gecko Society
The Gleaners food arrived in Zimbabwe with a container loaded with household, clothing, and medical items sponsored by Compassionate Resource Warehouse in Victoria, B.C. Every year we receive the Gleaner food and it has been a blessing. This year the food had a huge role to play in feeding the innocent prisoners taken captive during the civil unrest in Zimbabwe. People were randomly rounded up and thrown in jail after being beaten. Many people had untreated broken bones and were not being fed. The Highlands Presbyterian Church jumped into action by requesting donations of clothing, bandages and food, all of which Zimbabwe Gecko Society were able to provide. The Gleaners food was a big hit and truly helped out. Gleaners food was then needed when Hurricane Ida hit. The church rallied and we sent 30 boxes to aid the feeding stations. The rest of the boxes went to support the local poor people that we are working with at Rasper Farm Ward 35 in Zimbabwe. All the people love the taste and feel it really helps people with HIV of which we have many in this district. Thank you for organizing and shipping the food for us. Blessings to your volunteers. Gleaner's Expansion 2019
The ALC (Agriculture Land Commission) declined our application to renovate our current facility with more room in the kitchen/break room, office and new washrooms. We are in the process of appealing this decision. Pray with us for a positive outcome. Ben Doerksen |
