The poverty is severe near the area of Narok where our partner, Imani Home of Love, is located.   Many work tirelessly just to meet the immediate needs of that day.

Imani runs a home for orphans, while also ministering to others in the area. They often seek out widows who are alone with children as they work picking tea leaves or hauling coal for $1/day or pouring tea for workers going by. It is difficult for these widows to feed themselves and their children, let alone afford clothes, a home or to send their kids to school.

Our Imani partners support kids and parents who need help paying for school and food. Recently they visited St. Peter’s School, giving FVG apple snacks to the kids. As wages are low and education costs are so high, any food gift is a blessing.

John Martens, a founding member of both Okanagan Gleaners and Fraser Valley Gleaners, passed on to glory on April 10, 2025. Thanks to his service, both Gleaners have been able to serve the world’s hungry for many years.

Recently at FVG, we marked two major milestones: over a Quarter Billion Meals shipped and One Million Volunteer Hours logged since opening! This would not have been possible without people like John Martens, who so freely served the Lord.

In May, nine FVG volunteers, including four of our board members, spent ten days in Guatemala distributing our food aid, experiencing the country and loving on kids.  What a joy for them to get to see the smiling faces of those receiving our soup mix! A full report will be shared at our fundraising banquets in the fall.

Nitrile Gloves $200/month

With an average of 70 volunteers a day helping prepare our food aid, we go through a fair bit of gloves each week!

Box Tape & Strapping $2200/yr

Every soup box needs to be taped closed and every pallet of 24 boxes needs strapping to hold it together for transport.

Fraser Valley Gleaners is 100% donor driven.  Your donation dollars help us feed some of the world's hungry by converting reclaimed food into nutritious shelf stable food aid that can be shipped around the world to those in need.
